  • Mysore (Open Studio)Mysore class is open to all levels, from absolute beginners to the more seasoned students, and is the traditional method for learning Ashtanga yoga. With teacher assistance and supervision, all level students practice their sequence of postures at their own pace and within their own capacity. The class is not led--individual instruction and support is the point and emphasis of a Mysore class, and the posture sequences are taught to you individually. With regular practice, remembering the sequence you have been taught is easy and progress is quickly apparent. She teaches writing at Charter Oak State College in New Britain, Connecticut, and teaches yoga with a sense of delight for the English language. Our classes are a moving meditation of breath-connected postures. The postures flow together like beads on a string, or a “mala”. This strong athletic practice results in improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. with LeslieLeslie Page has been studying at Newington Yoga Center since the day it opened. She earned her 200-hour teacher certification in Embodyoga® at Newington Yoga Center. She is working toward her 500 certification with Beryl Bender Birch and the Hard and Soft Yoga Institute.   • Tai ChiThe slow motion movement, inner focus and health benefits of this ancient Chinese art make it an ideal low impact, health enhancing exercise for people of all ages. While not the first family of Tai Chi, Yang family Tai Chi is the most practiced style in the world. Tai Chi as an exercise system, once learned, can keep you healthy for the rest of your life. Form movements consist of a choreography of martial postures that position the torso and limbs to optimize the body’s ability to quickly move life force energy (Qi) and blood easily throughout the body, from toes to fingertips. with Georgehe Director of Silver Dragon Tai Chi and Qi Gong, George has 15 years of teaching experience and 20 years of study in the Chinese arts of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. He has successfully developed and continues to deliver classes in both arts for municipal recreation departments, corporate fitness centers and local health-focused healing centers. George’s goal is to give students the tools with which to reap the ongoing health and self-healing benefits of these wonderful arts. His strengths in teaching and coaching facilitate students’ ability to learn these health-enhancing exercises rapidly and with confidence. This strong athletic practice results in improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. with DebbieDebbie was introduced to Ashtanga yoga when she took her first class with Guy Donahue in New York City.  Fascinated and highly motivated for more, she learned the primary series with Valerie Schneiderman while earning her RYT-200 in 2010.  Since then she has deepened her practice through workshops with incredible teachers in the Ashtanga tradition including Tim Miller, David Garrigues, Beryl Bender Birch and David Swenson.  Currently, Debbie continues to experience and discover the transformative effects of this practice as she is guided by Suzanne Manafort and Noreen Reilly.  Debbie is also a graduate of the 100 hour Mindful Yoga Program.  These studies revealed a whole new awareness of the healing powers and benefits that yoga offers to each and every one of us.  She is honored to part of the Newington yoga Center community and is excited to share the gifts that others have so generously bestowed upon her. • 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm • all levels
